Why can't we have discussions in the game?

I don't understand why we can't talk about any specific topic such as towny vs. factions in the game.
Why do we have to come make a forum post about it? The same things will be said it will just take longer.

For Ender to turn off the server based on the topic we choose to talk about is just asinine.

You guys weren't accomplishing anything. It was just a pointless argument which was getting us nowhere. Nothing is going to change just because a few beta players say they want fractions in gameplay. If you want fractions, come here and rally official support. We do things democratically here and if there was a call for fractions, I'd gladly add it.

Well I for one was actually genuinely trying to have a constructive conversation.  I think that, yeas maybe it is good for it to be posted on the forums, but maybe we should get to have a preliminary discussion before we post a final thought on the forums.  The forums are so that everyone who is not online can also join in at different times not because everything serious can only be talked about on here.

To be honest, I really like the idea of fractions. I think it might be a fun thing to supplement towny with but I'll never know if other players think so unless we discuss it here.

I think factions and towny together might be painfully redundant
